Polar Bond

In other words, one atom will have an electron more than the other and as a result, this causes both atoms to be negatively charged. The charge distribution in a molecule with polar covalent bonds can be represented using Lewis diagrams or molecular orbital theory.

In general, molecules with polar covalent bonds tend to dissolve in water because it has a high dielectric constant which helps break up these types of interactions.

This means that polar covalent compounds usually do not mix well with nonpolar ones such as oils or fats because they do not dissolve into them and instead form two layers on top of each other.
