Encyclopedic note
An encyclopedic note is a descriptive text that defines an object or subject. It is a clear and concise summary that can also be used with drawings, graphs or images to complement the explanation.
In fact, the above is what differentiates encyclopedic notes from other types of documents, as they usually have illustrations that help to further understand the subject. At school level, this type of notes is frequently used so that children know about some character or object.
Characteristics of encyclopedic notes
Encyclopedic notes are simple to create, however, they have a set of attributes that define them:
- They are clear.
- Brief
- They contain only the most important ideas on the topic.
- With reliable information.
- Real data.
- Use your own and easily understood words .
- Descriptive adjectives abound.
- Use images that support the information.
Examples of encyclopedic note
Example 1: The SLR camera
Reflex cameras, also known as DSLRs, are a type of photographic camera with a lens (which may or may not be a fixed focus), an electronic sensor, a mirror (only some) and other elements that have replaced the old films of 35mm used in analog photography.
The parts of a SLR camera are:
- Shutter / shutter button (button to “capture” the scene).
- Button to exchange objectives.
- Other dedicated buttons.
- Connector or shoe for flash, microphone, led light or display.
- Objective.
- Receiver for remote control.
- Control wheel.
- White balance sensor.
- HDMI and USB ports.
- Horns.
- External memory slot.
- 3.5mm jack.
When we press the shutter, light enters the camera from the lens and is reflected in a mirror, which is perceived by the human eye through the camera’s viewfinder. This is the same image that the sensor captures to make the photograph. There are two types of SLR cameras: SLRs (with one lens) and TLRs (with two lenses).
Examples 2: Thebook
A book is a set of sheets that contain texts and images that inform about one or more topics.
Books are made up of sheets, pages, cover or cover and back cover, either in physical or digital format. Internally they will have a prologue, dedication, index, introduction, development of themes and topics, number of pages and more.
There are many types of books, including: scientific books, biographies, picture books, literature, novels, encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, ledgers, recreational, instructional, monographs, technical, religious, electronic, and others.
An important characteristic in books is the author or authors, hence the book has credibility or not.
