Output devices
The output devices are computer peripherals that allow the output data to be displayed by users.
When we use a computer, we normally enter data through the keyboard, mouse and other input devices so that it is transformed into something that is useful to us. For example, opening a word processor, typing from the keyboard (data input), and getting a file to share or store (data output).
The output devices are those that show what the computer “writes” using or not the data entered by the user. Sometimes they only show system notifications or similar.
Story
Output peripherals have not been the same since computers exist , over time they have been able to improve and create new equipment. Next, you will see a summary of part of the evolution that the main output devices have had.
- The first high-speed printer called the UNIVAC High Speed Printer was designed by Remington-Rand and launched in 1953 .
- In 1957 IBM commercialized the dot matrix printer.
- By 1960 the first loudspeakers were created.
- In September 1968 , Shinshu Seiki launched the first mini-printer.
- During 1977 the loudspeakers began to be perfected.
- In 1981 the first MDA monitor was created .
- The VGA ( Video Graphics Array ) monitors were released in 1987 by IBM.
- In 1989 SVGA Monitors (Super Video Graphics Array) were launched.
- In 1995 Larry Weber created the color plasma screen.
- HP launched the first LaserJet 3100 MFP in April
Importance of output devices
In the computer, processes occur in units of time so small that they even appear to be parallel. The output devices allow us to see a large part of the results of these processes.
Only the monitor has a large part of the responsibility of showing us information that was previously encoded and decoded by the microprocessor.
Depending on the file format, each data output component will be of great importance to users and their use will become essential to perform tasks of various kinds.
Examples of output devices
- Monitor : is that device through which the information provided by the computer is displayed. It can be LCD or plasma. Many now incorporate a touch screen that can replace mouse functions.
- Printer : its use is optional. It is a device that puts the information that the user has available on paper, from text to color or black and white images.
- Speakers : devices that emit sounds that are nothing more than the audio signals emitted by the computer. They are used to produce sounds of the computer, such as notifications, or any other audio file contained in memory that people play voluntarily.
- Headphones : just as there are speakers, headphones can also be used to perceive the audio signals from the computer. This device can be used in other equipment that is not related to a computer.
- Plotters: this is the name given to plotters. They can use various sizes of sheets: A0, A1, A2, A3 and A4, as well as different qualities of sheets: bond, tracing, acetate. Other variations are thicknesses and colors.
- Fax : peripheral through which a copy of another form that was scanned remotely is printed. This form can be transmitted by telephone or from the fax itself.
Other output devices:
- Projectors
- CD / DVD drive.
- Voice card.
- Microfilm.
- Sound card.
